SCIENTIST (BACTERIOLOGIST) PALMERSTON NORTH SEED TESTING STATION A vacancy has arisen within the Advisory Services Division for a Bacteriologist at Palmerston North. Duties involve testing of commercial cultures used in seed inoculation, for quality standards, and testing for the presence of rhyzobia on legume seed. The identifications of bacterial seed-borne diseases of peas, beans, and lucerne will be undertaken and of other crops as required. Reports of new diseases will be investigated. There will be some opportunity for research projects. The successful applicant will be appointed to the small, but active research station attached to the Seed Testing Station and it is expected that a close liaison will be established and maintained with the group, and with divisional plant health scientists. Qualification desired is a Masters Degree in either Agricultural Science or Science.
