This is a new position which entails approximately six months of the year on rotating shift with the balance on day work, including mechanical maintenance and plant modification work. When not on regular shift work the Relief Assistant Plant Engineer will be called to take up shift work to replace shift staff in the case of sickness or “emergency” leave. Applicants must, either be members of the Institute of Marine and Power Engineers or be eligible for membership. The minimum qualification for membership of the Institute is now Third Class Steam Engineer as defined in the Marine Engineers Examination Regulations.
