Three suspended

Rangers chances of winning the Broadlands Soccer league title this season have suffered another setback with the suspension of two of its key players. John Souter and Trevor Blake were sent off during Rangers’ 3-1 loss to Dunedin City last week-end in Dunedin. At a Canterbury Football Association judicialcommittee meeting last evening, Souter, sent off after receiving two cautions, was suspended for one playing day.

Blake was suspended for three playing days after he was sent off for serious foul Play. A member of the Papanui Working Men’s Club qualifying-division team also appeared before the judicial committee. He was the fourth player from this team to have been sent off this season. The player, Mike Hogan, was sent off against Halswell United last Saturday for serious foul play. He was suspended for four playing days. Halswell won the match, 3-1.
