CLOSED FIRE SEASON SELWYN FIRE GROUP, comprising the Counties of Ellesmere, Malvern, and that part of Paparua not covered by the urban fire district of Christchurch. The general restrictions imposed pursuant to the provisions of the Forest and Rural Fire Act 1955 relating to fires in the open air and hours of burning are cancelled as from this date, but the following restrictions remain in force: (a) The lighting of fires on land occupied by the North Canterbury. Catchment Board and the Selwyn Plantation Board is still totally prohibited, and (b) A permit is still required from the principal Rural Fire Officer to light any fire at any time in the open, in the Tawera Riding and that portion of the Home Bush Riding west of the Selwyn River in the Malvern County.
