C.F.M. pays steady div.
The directors of The Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, Ltd, have declared a steady interiim dividend of 4c a share (4 per cent). The chairman (Mr I. E. O. McKellar), says that the cur-[ rent killing season has been marked by serious industrial problems. However, if killing continues at capacity longer than usual, as is indicated, and if there is a respite l from industrial disputes, the profit for the year is expected to be satisfactory. The total sheep and lamb kill fell 6.5 per cent to 2,916,800 in the killing season to April 10. Lamb killing was up 3.9 per cent to 2,726,443, sheep down 61.6 per cent at 190,357.
The cattle kill rose 1.6 per cent to 69,925, and pigs 9.7 per cent to 43,096. However, average weights are considerably lower than last year, because qf the drought, Mr McKellar says. Lamb was down o.skg, and cattle B.4kg. The dividend is payable on May 3, ex dividend on April 19.
