Opposition candidates missing
'NZPA-Reuter Manila Four Opposition candidates are reported missing i n Manila, following the raid on the home of one of them, Miss Charito Planas. soon after the poll's closed on Friday. The police say they found an unlicensed gun and subversive literature in the) home of Miss Planas, who was last detained in 1973. They also say they sus-i ipect that the house was ■used to harbour subversive |members of the Communist ! underground New People’s I Army sent to create disorder in Manila. President Marcos said he would not allow any repetition of the demonstration the ■ day before the poll. He said the demonstration had ended in' violence, and thdfj several persons had been; killed. The President said that he; i had his own poll-commun- : lications network showing! that his New Society move-’ ment would lose only about i ■2O of the 165 seats in a new! i interim National Assembly I ‘drawn from 13 regions.
