Soccer lesson for Woolston

Special correspondent t The young Woolstoni Working Mens Club players learnt several soccer lessons: the hard way in their 2-3 Rothmans National League soccer loss to Mount Wellington in Auckland on Saturday. If the newly promoted Christchurch combination can profit from mistakes made on a bone-hard Newmarket Park then it should stay safely in the Rothmans league this season. The most severe lesson was saved until the last five minutes of the fast match. A fitter than usual Brian Turner ran on to a chip from the substitute, John Leijh. The: inexperienced defence: stopped and asked for the off-side while Turner pushed the winner past Nev Petrie. The southerners, level 2-2 at half-time, made the mistake of going on to 10-man defence for most of the second spell. Mount Wellington, however, spoilt its possession by over-elaboration.

Francis and the I only other really ex-| iperienced player in the IWoolston side, Graeme Da] combe, certainly matched' Mount Wellington in skills, but youngsters like Stani McGaffin will need polishing if they are to argue possession with the Tony Sibleys] and Ron Armstrongs of the; national league.
