Jester Boy again?
NZPA Sydney The former New Zealand galloper, Jester Boy, is set to notch his second successive Australian win in the 1900 m Longchamps Handicap at Canterbury today. The five-year-old gelding was an impressive winner over 2000 m in the mud at Randwick last week, and is the 4 to 1 second favourite for today’s event. His main rival will he Avoid Island, the surprise third placegetter in the Doncaster Handicap at his last start.
R«g 7 rnde put douit Rag Trade, winner ot the Aintree Grund National in 1976 and favourite for the race last Saturday . has been destroyed, his owner Pierre Raymond said. Rag Trade pulled up lame in the race won by Lucions. Raymond said: "It was considered a humane act to put him down. He broke down very badly on Saturday. I’m absolutely heartbroken.”—London.
