'General confesses, dies’

The man was a Russian working for the I ■ i Irano-Soviet Transport Company, the sources say. The sources say Ali Akbar Darakshani told security agents that he had been in close touch with officials of the Russian embassy for a long time, and had given them information. The sources say the former general fell ill after telling security agents about his contacts with Russian officials. He was taken to a military hospital, where he died shortly afterwards from a heart attack, they say. In December, last year, Major-General Ahmed Moqarrebi was executed after being convicted of spying! for the Soviet Union. 1
