Morgan Moffat won his second title at Linwood this season when he skipped his team of Sonny Calder and Bryan Smith to victory in the triples final. Moffat’s opponent was Bernie Sansom, whose team was Cliff Corley and Jim McDonald.

After five ends. Sansom led, 7-5. but by the tenth end Moffat was ahead, 129, and he then came away to win, 27-12, with two ends unplayed.

Moffat’s other success was in the fours where his team of Frank Burgess, Hugh Molloy and Curly Lyons took the final. 21-17, over the combination of Norm Peters, Warren Fitchett, Colin Calder and John Saundercock (s). It was only on the last few ends ’ that Moffat gained the upper hand.

Winners of the monthly open triples tournament at Linwood were:— Russeil green: Cyril Hill, Duncan Collie and Peter Meier. Redpath green: Roy Boot, Arthur Stapleton and Ken Shivas; Edgar Wilson green: Les Gribben, John Saundercock, and Peter Remi. * # ft

R. Walsham had a onepoint victory in the fours final at Shirley over R. Stokes. Walsham’s team was B. Lawler, K. Pash and R. McLeod. Colin Manson added the pairs crown to the singles he won earlier when he beat Norm Barr, 21-18, in a keenly-fought final.

Keith Browning has also had a double success at Papanui. As second for Brian McGowan, he added the triples to the fours he won earlier when McGowan beat George King, 2718, in the triples final. The scoring was even for the first half of the board, but McGowan’s team —

Eric Farmer was the third member — handled a difficult wind better and came away on the closing ends.

Browning and Farmer are also still in the running in the pairs. Along with John Gill they have one-life. Gill gets a bye through to the final if he can beat the two-lifer, Dave Trainor, who retained his status last week when he beat Bob Hewitt in a very close game. * # «

The Pegasus tournament. introduced last year by the South Brighton club, will be even bigger this season. A third club. Sumner, has been added to the two already booked, South Brighton and New Brighton. The tournament, to be plaved on the week-end of April 1 and 2, will operate under the same system as last year. A division will be made after the first day, with the top teams on the same green the second day and the others, the non-qualifiers, engaging in a secondary tournament. Entries are still being taken. * sS #

Wally Wilkinson has had mixed fortunes at Beckenham recently. In a tight game, he lost the fours final, 11-15, to Noel Browstow, whose team was Lyn Armstrong, Noel Falloon and Harry Wilkinson. The other losing finalists were Bob Tinson and John and Carrie Bateman.

Wilkinson had better fortune in the triples, which in association with Brostow and Barry Chapman, he won with both lives intact. His final wins were over Len Bradbury and Sandy McNabb. Wilkinson was also the last two lifer in the pairs, but he has since made a quick exit from this com-

petition. It was Cliff Bow. man who took his second life. ♦ • « I Men’ Robinson, with Keith Charteris and Irvine Parry as his team, has won the triples title at Barrington. In the final, Robinson beat Cliff whose team was Selwyu Whitfield and Arthur Tall, 24-15. Cox was well behind early and after making up the lost ground he was twice unlucky when he moved the kitty in the wrong direction and dropped threes. In the semi-finals, Cox scored a seven on the last end to make sure of victory over Lyn Wall and Robinson had a more convincing win over John Wilson. The best game of the championship was the clash between Robinson and Cox in the quarterfinals. It lasted four hours and a quarter and was in doubt until the last bowl —Cox winning, 15-12. Robinson also has a chance of adding the pairs title to his collection. He and Ivor Hanson are the only remaining skips, but more than one game will be required as they are both two-lifers. In the colts final, Rex Armstrong beat Bill Johns, 21-8, reversing the 21-19 win Johns had when they met in the semi-finals. * St <9 A Brisbane man, who describes himself as a re. tired prominent bowler, has extended an invitation for a Christchurch couple to stay with him and his wife while contesting the Gold Coast bowls carnival in June and July this year. He would expect the offer to be reciprocated. Anyone interested can get further information by writing, including their telephone number, to this column.
