Seminar for the home buyer
A seminar for people considering buying a house has been arranged by the Canterbury division of the Institute of Management on March 22. The seminar is aimed at giving home buyers a general understanding of the various types of mortgage finance available, and the usual source of supply. The course, which will last three hours, will be led by Mr Tony Booth, a senior life assurance consultant, and • Mr Clive Merritt, a bank manager. It will cover flat and table mortgages, their meaning and implications; valuations; finance sources, such as building societies, insurance companies, bank savings schemes, Post Office savings banks, solicitors’ trust funds, money clubs, and home lay-by accounts; as well as expenditure on a house geared to earnings and repayment periods. The Institute of Management is also running another seminar in May, dealing with sales management. It will be led by Mr J. S. Wren, author of “Selling in New Zealand,’* and an Auckland marketing consultant. The course intended to develop and stimulate sales managers, will be held between May 2 and May 5. Appeal rejected An appeal bv Alfred Benning, aged 67, a retired clerk against conviction for the murder of his wife, at Wellington last year was dismissed by the Court of Anneal in a judgment.— (P.A.)
