Crosbie show to start on Sunday

If it is true, as TVI believes, that all viewers enjoy programmes about interesting people, the new series, “Be My Guest,” with Sharon Crosbie, should be a successful one. The series will start on Sunday. Miss Crosbie who was in Christchurch yesterday to choose clothes for her show, reports a heartening response from viewers,
who were asked to write in, naming public figures or personalities they would like to see interviewed.
The first guest will be the veteran producer of radio drama, Davina Whitehouse. The idea is that Davina Whitehouse and later guests will be interviewed, with the help of Miss Crosbie, by people who have always admired and wanted to meet them, and to ask particular questions bf them.
The producer is Peter Morritt, who produced the Feltex Award-winning “Fair Go” programme. His philosophy is to produce programmes for people, rather than for awards.
“Be My Guest” is designed to be “a non-frothy chat show of substance.”
“Be My Guest,” not content with simply introducing the two parties, will continue to work on the viewer’s suggestion and, if the situation permits, introduce a third “complementary” person. For instance, if the guest is an athlete, another sports personality may join him. If the guest has a spe-
cial interest or hobby, space on the set has been allowed for him to speak about it, or demonstrate it; if not, film coverage of the person’s activities will screen.
Others suggested as guests on the programme are John Walker and Sir Edmind Hillary. Miss Crosbie premises that they will appear on future shows.
“Be My Guest” will be recorded on Friday nights and screened on Sunday evening.
