A rally in Cathedral Square on Friday will seek solidarity for the Bastion Point protesters in their fight to have 160 acres in Auckland returned to Maori title. It also seeks to “throw out” the Supreme Court in-
•.junction against the Bastion /(Point occupation. The Gov--jernment says it has the legiti- - 1,mate title to the land. The hearing of a Crown . application for an injunction -■against the protesters was
adjourned to April 3 by Mr Justice Speight in the Supreme Court at Auckland yesterday after an application I from the defendants, reports I the Press Association. The Crown is the plaintiff in the action. Named as defendants are Joseph Parata Hawke, Jack Rameka, Grant Hawke and Roger Paratene Rameka. All four represented themselves at the hearing. Mr C. M. Nicholson ■ appeared for the Crown. His Honour said he was prepared to grant a limited extension of time to the defendants so they could examine Government documents relating to the Orakei block and consider recent 'Government proposals for the juse of the land. | Mr Joe Hawke alleged in i Court that documents showling how the Crown acquired i land at Bastion Point would j reveal double dealing, cheatling and swindling for which ’the Crown was answerable. j About 200 people, many of I them waving banners, demlonstrated outside the Court, land the courtroom was i packed with people, who j overflowed into the foyer.
