Candidate for Waipa
Hamilton Miss Marilyn Waring has been elected the National Party’s candidate for the new Waipa electorate. In a secret ballot in Te Awamutu last evening Miss Waring, who is the member of Parliament for Raglan, overwhelmingly beat three other nominees. About 700 people packed the Te Awamutu College hall to watch the candidate’s election, and gave Miss Waring a standing ovation when her nomination was announced.
