The Norwegian cruise liner Royal Viking Sea arrived in Wellington Harbour yesterday, en route to China in the course of a Pacific cruise.
The Royal Viking Sea sailed from Los Angeles on February 8 on a 70-day “Circle Pacific Cruise” and is due in Shanghai on March 29.
The liner called at Hong Kong last year, and overland expeditions to Canton were organised for the passengers. This year the Chinese invited the liner to call into China, a rare destination for cruise liners.
The Royal Viking Sea will berth in Picton and cruise in Queen Charlotte Sound before continuing to Australia and up the Asian coast to Shanghai.
