$3000 in grants to Chch organisations

Christchurch organisations will get $3OOO of the $145,000 in grants an nounced by the Menta Health Foundation. It will be the first big allocation of money raised it last year’s Telethon. Ferndale School for the Intellectually Handicapped in Merivale, will get $lOOO towards the cost of trav elling expenses to studj overseas programmes for the mentally handicapped. The Wainoni Socia’ Services Centre will receive $lOOO toward running costs and the Friendship Centre will get $5OO towards its expenses. A grant of $5OO will alsc be made to the Schizoph renia Fellowship, Christchurch, for its work in helping sufferers and their families. The foundations largesi single grant, $15,000 will gt to “Commitment,” a counselling service for children in emotional crisis in Auckland and Hamilton. Another $12,000 will be given to the Aucklanc branch of the Intellectually Handicapped Society. The money will be used to support families with handicapped children. More than 80 per cent d
