Few correct entries
Only a handful of touragram buffs solved last month’s puzzler on airlines of the word — admittedly the most difficult touragram yet. Of the many entries which trickled in unusually few were correct. .Clue 21 — “One of the world’s largest airlines sounds like a regional American carrier” — confused most contributors. The correct answer was “Eastern,” but many simply replied “American.” Little-known airlines such as Avianca, Viasa, and Garuda also proved difficult for many, but the most delightful error was made by the entrant who spelt the name of Israel’s airline “L L,” a phonetically reasonable abbre« viation for “El Al.” No school entries were received last month — apparently because the
touragram appeared before the school year began in earnest. Gift vouchers have been awarded to the following: Philip Taylor, Freyberg Avenue, Kurow; Forrest Family, 33 Byron Street, Greymouth; Dr and Mrs K. Davidson, P.O. Box 173, Blenheim; Mrs Rewa McDougall, 216 A Waimairi Road, Christchurch 4: Mrs M. F. Winter. 19 Kaplan Avenue, Christchurch 4; Mrs R. L. Crawford, 8 Mendip Place, Christchurch 5. Other correct entries were received from:— M. E. Caskey; Mrs L. M. Hight (Ashburton); L. M. Lyons (Blenheim); Mrs Elizabeth Mounce; Mrs B. O’Callaghan; Mrs A. Toneycliffe (Tinwald); W. R. Tulloch (Blenheim); Mrs Ethel Walters; Westlake Family; Mrs Audrey Levy.
