Only last month a high nilitary source told NZPA Neuter that the Philippines vas quietly extending its luthority over the Archirelago, and already had roops on six of a large lumber of small islands, slets, and coral reefs some if them only visible above he water line at low tide 'he Spratlys are also ilaimed by Vietnam, China, nd the Nationalist Chinese Government on Taiwan. One island in the group is ccupied by Taiwan and anither only 200 metres from Philippines-occupied one as Vietnamese forces on it.
