Lester out of yachting?
PA Auckland The world O.K. dinghy champion, Peter Lester (Auckland), has run out of luck in the national, Laser class championship off Takapuna. Auckland. Lester is the only helmsman in the 38-boat fleet to have won two races. But he had the misfortune of being disqualified in the first race on Friday for not returning after a premature start and did not finish in tile fourth race yesterday when his rudder gudgeon broke. The maximum points scored for these two races have virtually put him out of the conThe national Finn champion, Murray Thom (Auckland), who was disqualified with Lester in the first race, has fought his way back into the contest, after two fifth placings on Saturday, Thom took a first and third yesterday to get among the contest leaders.
On over-all points, P. Meo (Wellington) leads the field with the loss of 58 points, followed by B. Deegan (Auckland) 60.4, S. Harwood (Auckland), 85, J. Pitman (Auckland). 96; and P. Lavelle (Auckland) 100. Thom is in eighth place at 114.7 points. But when his disqualification is dropped as a worst performance, he is overall leader with 25.7 points, followed by P. K. Page (Auckland) 27. J. Douglas (Auckland) 31 Meo 37 and Deegan 48.7.
