Exemption review

I PA Wellington I The Government has asked I the Shop Trading Hours • Commission to review the ! lists of approved and special goods, and to recommend possible changes. The Minister of Labour (Mr Gordon) said that the present approved and special-goods lists had been in force only five months but pressure had come for an early review covering such items as hardware and building supplies. Mr Gordon said the commission had also asked for a review as soon as possible to remove anomalies and to

rationalise the goods lists “The commission indicated that this would be of considerable assistance in its general administration of the Shop Trading Hours Act,” Mr Gordon said. “To try to facilitate this, the Government has requested the commission to undertake a complete review of the goods lists.” All would have an opportunity to make submissions before the commission, Mr Gordon said. “In fact, today I received a letter from the shop unions seeking a general hearing on the goods lists.” he said.
