Transglo fancied in Greymouth tonight

Jack Smolensk! lias brought over his smart mare Transglo for the SSuUO race and Ascot f air and Jaunty Hanover, both failures in the Max Harvey Handicap, are expected to show vast improvement. A lightly raced mare, she will not be inconvenienced by the turning hall-miie track and she is tne one me first night runners have to beat. Her stabiemate Lauraine Hanover was a game second to Drifted In in the Harvey Handicap and she must be considered. However, better prospects may be Jaunty Hanover and Ascot Fair. Both failed to “fire” on the first night but are sure to benefit bv the run. Trevor Thomas settled Jaunty Hanover at the back and he failed to show any of his customary dash. Punters who sent him out favourite, however, may be well advised to keep him on side tonight. Ascot Fair comes into the same category. Felix Newfield gave him a nice run over the last 1000 m but sixth was the best he could do. He was an impressive winner at Addington the time before and that may be a better line to follow as a guide to his chances tonight. Of the others. Charlie Word, which was run down after setting a torrid pace in the Max Harvey Handicap, and Smolenski’s third runner Waylynne make most appeal. Abbe Gold, which looked close to his best when he narrowly failed to hold out Garzandy on the first night, should get due reward in the second leg, the Mevfor Brandy Handicap. Garzandv will be conceding Abbe Gold Him and although that seems an insurmountable task he is sure to fill a place. Emanar, third on the first night, should be thereabouts again.
