United and Shamrock won the first matches in the Hangers L’mbro pre-season soccer tournament at Rangers Park, thereby qualifying for the I semi-finals in a fortnight. i United beat Western, 3-0, after j leading, 1-0, at half-time. Its scorers were Steve Sumner, Kee> Doornenbal, and Frank McKay. The win was its second over | Western in two weeks, it having (already beaten the new Broad lands Southern League team. 1-0.
