Scrub fire at Hornby
Firemen spent six hours fighting a big scrub fire in Hei Hei Road, Hornby. The fire broke out soon after 3.30 p.m. and had destroyed five acres of scrub on vacant land before it was brought under late last evening. No property was endangered, but a' gusty northwesterly wind made the task of the firemen difficult. The fire was attended by three engines from the Spreydon, Harewood, and Central stations.
