Drawing prize to Hotere
The Arts Festival Inter-} national of Drawings has: been won by the Dunedin artist, Ralph Hotere. and a drawing “Ko Wai Koe?” The decision is expected to be controversial. About 200 artists from 32 countries entered the event which was judged last evening by the chairman of the
I Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council (Mr Hamish Keith). Five drawings from four . countries reached the finals. "Ko wai koe” means “Who i are you?” The question the drawing posed, said Mr Keith, [[“was as tenebrous as the . 1 warm night in which it is ; 1 shouted.”
