Late-night profit
Custom had been steady and was increasing at the six Wool worths supermarkets in Christchurch since they began trading on two late nights a week, said the company's South Island regional manager (Mr L. O’Hara). Customers were getting used to the idea of shopping on Wednesday night and business was reasonable at all h-anches. There had been no
problems and the present trading hours would continue, Mr O’Hara said. The Woolworths supermarkets were the first in Christchurch to take advantage of the new supermarket employees’ award, which allows two late shopping nights a week. Thev have stayed open until 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. 9 p.m. on Thursdays, and 6 p.m. on Fridays since January 18.
