Two more women priests
Two more Christchurch women were ordained into the Anglican priesthood last evening by the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt Rev. W. A. Pyatt). The Rev. Carole Graham and the Rev. Margaret Wood (shown with Bishop Wood were ordained at a service at St Peter’s Upper Riccarton. Miss Graham became a deacon five years ago and has been a curate at St Peter’s for the last three years and a half. She will continue working in the parish.
Miss Wood became a deacon a year ago, and has been a curate at St Christopher’s, Avonhead, She will also continue in her parish.
Four women have now been ordained in Christchurch. The Rev. Olive Ault and the Rev. Jean Henderson, of St Mary’s, Merivale, were ordained on February 19.
Two others, Miss Glenys Lewis and Miss Melva Finney, will be or 'ained at St Saviour’s, Sydenham, on February 26.
