While the Directors position obviously calls for aperson with appropriate experience in Psychiatry the Board nonetheless would consider applications from more recently qualified Psychiatric i Specialists. ; The current staffing establishment in the Department lis two Psychiatrists. Two are currently employed with the above vacancy arising through the forthcoming return of one of the Psychiatrists to the United States. The establishment also includes a Psychiatric Registrar, two Clinical Psychologists, a Psychiatric Social Worker and the appropriate Nursing Staff. The Unit in Timaru serves the City of Timaru and the surrounding country districts. A new psychiatric unit is being planned for this area and the appointee would assisfcin planning the service. The appointment will be of Specialist status in terms of Hospital Service Determina tion Medical Officers' and the Salary will be within the scale $17,060 to $22,161 plus 1C.0.L. The commencing rate will be determined by the ■ Director-General of Health according to qualifications and experience and advance;ment within the scale will be automatic.
