w MATRON MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS WELLINGTON BILATERAL AID PROGRAMME SOLOMON ISLANDS FISHERIES DEVELOPMENT PROJECT FERRO-CEMENT CONSTRUCTION EXPERT THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS is seeking applicants for the position of Ferro-cement Construction Expert in the Fisheries Development Project, in the Solomon Islands. The Project is intended to promote skipjack tuna fishing around the Solomons, using ten ferrocement pole and line catcher boats constructed locally. The headquarters are based on Tulagi and the successful applicant will be expected to take up his appointment towards June. The Ferro-cement Construction Expert will be experienced in the construction of ferro-cement hulls. His duties will include the supervision of the whole process of construction of hulls and superstructure for four boats. He will also advise on the .establishing of a warehouse for spares, material and gear, and will select a locally recruited counterpart and train him during the period of his assignment. Applicants should possess the ability to adapt to a working and living environment substantially different from that in New Zealand. The appointment to the position will be made under the New Zealand Bilateral Aid Programme and will be for a period of two years. Remuneration will be on the basis of salary plus allowances and terms are negotiable with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
