Apple price up for growers
The price to growers tor this season’s apples and pears will increase from 8 6328 c to 9.4960 c a kilo-1 gram, the Apple and Pear; Prices Authority has an-: nounced. The increase. 10 per cent, is] the maximum under the Apple and Pear Marketing Act, The price increase covers! bare fruit, unpacked, un- i graded, and without con-I tamers, but includes cartage
to the growers nearest inspection depot. The Authority has also fixed a 0.2 c a kilogram indusi try levy for apples and pears. (This will be due by August next year for all apples Isold by growers during the (12 months to June 30. 1979. The levy, about 4c a carton, is expected to make a ’ significant contribution toi wards paying for apple and (pear processing and promoi tion of the industry.
