Horticulture by the Estuary

Sir, — I write concerning the proposal to plant trees near the Estuary and the Drainage Board’s comments. If the board’s executive would consult the New Brighton Horticultural Society, constructive advice

would be available on methods of establishing satisfactory plant materia! in that area. Contrary' to popular and, in some cases, "expert’’ belief, successful horticulture can be developed in the area. A survey of results of the recent garden competitions will bear this out. One of the prize-winning gardens is on the fringe of the sandhills. —Yours, etc., (Mrs) A. J. FLANAGAN.
