Ex-President wins $125,000 damages

Dr Obote, £17,500 sterling ($33,000) to a former senior civil servant. Akene Adoko, and £B5OO ($16,000) to the former Planning Minister, Akbar Nekyon. The defence said that Lady Listowel, who is 73, bad accused Dr Obote and the two aides of corruption and abuse of power. Dr Obote, who is 52, said after the hearing: “1 came here to clear my reputation and this has been done most satisfactorily. “I think my case was proved on Monday when Lady Listowel withdrew her allegations against me and an apology was extended to me which I accepted."
