Union ban lifted
Boilermakers at the ’ heavy engineering firm of ] C. W. F. Hamilton, Ltd, in '| Christchurch yesterday I lifted their two-week-old i ban on loading out equipi ment destined for the ( Huntly power station. ; The boilermakers, memi hers of rhe Canterbury Boilermakers’ Union, im- ' posed the ban when the | company refused to agree ’ to give six weeks notice I of redundancy. ( The employers offered ; ] to give the maximum I amount of notice with a I minimum of four weeks at ■ a conference called by tne ; South Island conciliator | (Mr I . Fortune) on ; Wednesday, but the union, j has so far rejected the offer.
