Woti Auckland Cup three starts back but well beaten meanwhile in Wellington Cup and 2200 m at Trentham on January 23. Obviously capable of much better. Has had a chance to freshen. J. Grylls 2 8581 TONIC TIME (2) 54 5. Surprise winner at last start at Avondale on February 6. Has been racing moderately well. Has the pace to lead this field and should be very prominent 3 2655 BIG GAMBLE (9) 53. Disappointing lately. Only moderate fifth behind La Mer at Te Rapa on Tuesday. Has plenty of ability but hard to fancy much on latest showings. 4 3119 GAY JULIET (7) 51.5. Scored notable double at Auckland meeting last month. Outpaced meanwhile at Avondale on February 6. Lacks something in early speed but usually runs on well. This big track should help. C. McNab 5 MM GOLD DUCAT (10) 51.5. Wad every chance before finishing sixth behind Sevendiper at Te Rapa last Saturday. Previously won well at Rotorua. Looks to have trained on well enough. T. Williams 6 0837 NENA (6) 49.5. Looked more like het old self when third in Lady Norrie Stakes last Saturday but well beaten behind La Mer on Tuesday. Might need easier footing before she comes to her best again. 7 2356 BAHRAIN (12) 49. Ran gamely against Uncle Remus in several attempts through

summer but below top form in last two outings when fifth in Wellington Dei by and eighth behind Serendiper al Te Rapa last Saturday. Promising but not on latest show 8 3620 FLEET SYMBOL (19) 48.5. Costly failure when fading to thirteenth in intermediate 3200 m at Te Rapa on Tuesday. Showed up at Wai roa earlier this month but up against it in this stronger company. R. Skelton 9 0002 TOMMY'S PRIDE (11) 48.5. Once highly promising and back to form at last when third, promoted to second at Te Rapa last Saturday. Looked better and will, perhaps, continue the improvement. 10 2017 APOSTLE (4) 48. Winner two starts back in intermediate 2030 m at Matamata on February 4 but only seventh at Te Rapa on Tuesday. Longer distance here could be a help. 11 4724 BLUE BILLY (13) 48. Pretty consistent intermediate grades and followed second in class-three 2200 m at Ellerslie on January 30 with fourth at last start in Matamata Cup. One of the best light weights.

J. Moody 12 0117 CHIEF ORE (5) 48. Won intermediate middle-distance double at Trent ham last month but failed since at Wairoa on February 11. Stays pretty well but faces tougher opposition in this one. 13 1016 AGFAMAN (16) 47.5. At best has shown promising form in high-weight class. Two recent wins were at Rotorua and Pukekohe. Has to be considered. D. Cameron 14 4141 BANZALI (1) 47.5. Racing well, and very promising young horse altogether. Win at last start was in classthree 1600 m at Avondale on February 6. Could well make a useful middle-distance runner. W. Robinson 16 0000 FOOTMARK (3) 47.5. Seems to have lost form altogether after showing some promise last spring. G. Mulcahy 18 9479 HONEST MONCE (20) 47.5. Shows up occasionally but does not win often. Failed to run on sufficiently well last Saturday at Te Rapa. 19 1100 NOBLE MISTRESS (14) 47.5. Has failed twice in class-one middle distances since coming thuorgh inter mediate grades so impressively. Lacked finish dash at Te Rapa last Saturday. D. Peake 20 2300 ROYAL BLUNDER (17) 47.5. Best recent efforts were second to Te Taki at Tauranga in December and third at Thames. Meanwhile, well beaten at Ellerslie at Thames. Balloted out in order of reentry: 15 0500 CEPHEUS (18) 47.5. Once useful looking but has been too long out of form

to be given much consideration. K. Dunlop 17 7079 INDIAN GOLD (15) 47.5. Failed to show up at Te Rapa on Tuesday and this is no easier.

T.A.B. DOUBLE 3.5 p.m.— BREEDERS' STAKES $10,000; fillies and mares; 1600 m. 1 3014 MER 'CLER (15) 57. Disappointing when only fourth last Saturday behind Advance Copy. Holds many very good performances and has to be allowed another Chance. J. Grylls 2 4010 LADY BELLE (10) 55.5. .lust won two starts back at Rotorua. Not as well suited as some by conditions at Te Rapa on Tuesday. Could do better here. R. Skelton 3 1 443 WANDELLE (1) 55.5. Racing solidly with first-up win over 1200 m at Ellerslie then run on minor placlngs. J. Moody 4 5204 SHIFNAL'S PRIDE (11) 54.5 Thoroughly capable and won Ellerslie’s George Adams Handicap little more than a year ago. Racing well again arid should go well. D. Graham 5 1832 ORCHIDRA (3) 54.5. Racing solidly with last start second in Lady Norrie Stakes after close third in Wellington’s George Adams Handicap Looks the one to beat. L. Johnson 6 1981 ADVANCE COPY (2) 52.5 Showed best form when winning Lady Norrie Stakes at Te Rapa last Saturday. Has Ikg less this time so could be expected to run prominently again. C. McNab 7 0442 EXOTIC (4) 515. Latest form reads well, including last start second in Breeders’ Stakes at Tauherenikau. Another good prospect. G. Lord 9 1415 KAZINKA (2) 50. Won well two starts back over 1200 m at Ellerslie and moderate fifth last Saturday behind Shamura. Has been usually pretty handy lately. G. Simonsen 10 3748 BRALESS (81 505. Failed to run on last Tuesday behind Copper Belt when back from middle distance racing. Down I.skg in this restricted company and a chance on that account. L. Douglas 11 0231 LAVENDER HILL (14) 50.5. Continued her improvement with last start in over 1600 m at Ellerslie. Clocked Imin 35.95ec and in the same form would certainly give good account of herself. D. Peake 12 1522 MUN LEE (9) 495. Racing impressively with last start second in N.Z. Oaks at Trentham after second in Royal Stakes at Ellerslie. Will probably finish better than most.

T. Williams 13 4124 COTTON CANDY (14) 49. Posibly hampered by the shifty ground when well beaten in Lady Norrie Stakes. Previously second and first over 1600 m at Ellerslie. Worth another chance. 14 1739 AWARD (4) 48, Fair third two starts back in Matamata Cup. Could be expected to find this company too tough. 15 0830 BELLE MAREE (7) 48. Well beaten at Te Rapa last Saturday behind Shamura. Form altogether lately not nearly good enough. 14 9040 BAYADERE (17) 47.5. Tailed them home in Lady Norrie Stakes and would have to improve out of sight to make a showing here. W. Smith 17 9441 MATELETTE (18) 47.5. Last start winner over 1600 m at Avondale. Smart but will find this tougher. Balloted out in order of reentry;— 8 9002 BACCALLA (5) 51. Showed up again promisingly last start when second behind Grand Marnier over 1600 m at Hawera. This is harder. 15 4458 OGLE (13) 475. Beat only 3 last Saturday in T.ad.v Norrie Stakes and hardly a prospect on that showing.
