Lauraine Hanover is cup fancy

Lauraine Hanover proved much too good for a useful field of mares in a $754)0 race at Invercargill on Monday and a rehandicap of 10m should not be enough to keep her from winning again in the Timaru Cup tomorrow.

Lauraine Hanover has shown sound staying form in the past and this field does not look to be particularly strong. She is usually a reliable beginner and should be able to secure a favourable run, which would give her her fourth success for the season. Johnny Regalo has seldom been guilty of a bad run and he shaped like an early winner when he made ground for fourth to Rebecca’s Pride at Addington Raceway last Saturday. He appeals as

much as any among an even lot, with support certain for Dreamy Boy and Waitaki Dawn, on the back mark of 30m, and Longfellow Deeds and Mister Gregory. Only Genesis among the top-ranked South Island two-year-olds has drawn unfavourably in the Timaru Nursery Stakes and in spite of having to start from the second line, be must be given a great chance.
