Another chance for Main Star
Special corerspondent Wellington. The beaten favourite on the first night. Main Star gets his chance to make amends when he runs in the Inter-Wand Handicap, first leg of the Wellington Trotting Club’s double at Hutt Park tomorrow night. Main Star was a well beaten second behind Timely Robin In the Capital Classic on the first night. That race was run over 2000 m and, tomorrow nlgM Main Star starts from 20 and
Timely Robin from the front, but in Main Star’s favour Is the fact that tomorrow's race will be rwa over an extra 400 m.
Main Star, on Wednesday, ran a quicker time than TlmelT Robin. He was unbeaten in twn starts in Auckland, including the Great Northern Derby, and with an extra day to get over his rushed trip to Hutt Park, he will be very hard to beat. Timely Robin was brilliant In hl, win He Is not penalised for the success and the fact that he begins so well from a stand should help him. Rovdon Scott and Wenona Scott are fresh runners. Koydon Scott, a 2mln pacer, was second to Lord Module st Addington last week and though his best performances have come from behind the gate he would only have to step away safely to run in the money It would be dangerous to underrate Wenona Scott. In a very short time he has reached a CS rating and after winning a Great Northern Derby heat, failed In •he big one itself. But on the final night of th* clip meeting at Alexandra Parte, he was third In the Epsom Stakes—a fine rub for he had bee’ badiv checked at the start. That was over one mile and the 2400 m will suit him much better tomorrow.
Gold Rand lias a Job In front of him from the bark mart of 10. but he is a good pacer and mav he better suited by the e«*ra distance
The second leg of the double will )>e run on the Days Bay Pace and Marshall Fields, even from an outside front row draw, will be hard to beat. He was most impressive In his win m Wr dnesdav also bom an outside draw and on that evidence will take some beating.
