Kindergarten trainees
Sir,—ln th° TVI news last evening, an item on the shortage of applicants for kindergarten training reported that three of our training colleges had many vacancies, and that the rea-
sons for this were not clear. This information astounded and infuriated me, as my daughter was one of the many whose application was rejected, and who has since won a place in the face of great competition on the child care course at the Wellington Polytechnic. I would suggest that one of the reasons for the lack of students is the ridiculously high educational standard set by the kindergarten authorities —• university experience, bursary students, etc. In all due respect to all concerned, kindergarten teachers are only required to handle pre-school children, not high school students. — Yours, etc.,
