Rugby date widened
To clear up any misunderstandings, the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening decided that its under-20, under-19 and fifth grades would run this year on ages as at January 1. Two weeks ago the union voted to switch from April 1, the date used for many years, to January 1 for al! the grades administered by its junior advisory board.
Members were told that there was confusion in some clubs about whether the new’ date applied to the three open grades w’hich had age restrictions. It was felt that for the sake of uniformity the January 1 date should apply to ail age-linht grades.
