Invitation declined
The Council of the New Zealand Football Association has turned down an allexpenses paid invitation from Indonesia to attend a multination tournament there The N.Z.F.A. chairman, Mr Terry Killalea, said yesterday that the decision was nearly unanimous, the major reason being the policy of non-interference with the Rothmans league programme, which the tour would cut across. “We must consolidate be-
fore we start taking on a lot more commitments," he said. “We have already applied to stage an Australsian playoff of a Fifa-run under-19 world tournament though. Taiwan, Australia and Fiji are in our section and i expect they have all applied to host it too,” he said. The competition, for which New Zealand has already been accepted as a contestant, kicks off in October-November this year and is in effect a junior world cup. _
