Random reminder

THE ADDICT

Somewhere north of Christchurch lives a woman who is not worried about marijuana or Norman Bowler getting a hold of her. All she wants and all she ever thinks of is a nine-letter word beginning with “C” and ending with “S.” And she is never happy til! she has completed one, whereon she is never happy till she starts am other. The other day the golf club she belongs to had a bit of a do and some lucky person won a frozen " chicken. Our heroine’s ever-watchful eye noticed there was a crossword puzzle on the paper the chicken was wrapped in. Quickly she found some other paper and requested the winner of tna chicken to rewrap

his prize so that she could have the paper with the crossword. Another day, at the same club, a member threw away his fish and chip paper. Before hearing this we had no idea golfers ate fish and chips, but never mind. Our friend saw the dirty, fatty paper in the waste paper basket, hungrily saw it had a crossword on it, so retrieved it. Recently she went on an overseas holiday. She was really enthralled with the first city they visited, it had so many newspapers and each one had a crossword, one in fact, had two. Pretty well all of her stay there was spent in bed with her three dictionaries, doing crosswords.

But it was a wellknown tourist resort on the coast that really won her heart. Here she discovered and bc'jht another dictionary, better than all her old ones; and it was here that she went in for a little profitable shoplifting. She was admiring some crocodile hand-bags and on opening one found the paper stuffed in it to keep it in good shape, contained a crossword. Surreptitiously she sneaked it out and into her own bag. The incident went unnoticed, but if she had been apprehended and sentenced to a few months imprisonment she would not have minded provided she had been allowed sufficient crosswords to while awav her
