Conspiracy trial
Twenty-five people are on; trial in Afghanistan on] charges of plotting to kill! President Mohammed Daoud and overthrow his Government, the radio in the Afghan capital of Kabul has reported. The radio said that the murder by a gunman of the Planning Minister, Ali Ahmed Khuram, last November had been part of the conspiracy. It had been hatched by what the radio called internal and external enemies of Afghanistan. The alleged killer had confessed: voluntarily. — Islamabad, j Soldiers sacked The Philippine military authorities have dismissed an army officer and eight soldiers for alleged maltreatment and murder of a detainee in the northern Philippines town of Baggao, the ■Defence Department has said. The Armed Forces chief of staff (General Romeo Espino) also ordered the detention of the accused soldiers pending a criminal hearing in a civilian court. They are the latest in a series of 40 dismissals of erring military men accused of violence. — Manila. New evening?
