Bus stop shifted
New’ Brighton bus patrons will get a new place to wait for their buses, away from Warner’s Tavern and the nearby fastfood shops. The City Council has approved a plan to remove three parking meters in Worcester Street, near the Cinerama Theatre, and put the bus stop there.
Burwood and Wainoni buses already leave from this area. Cr Newton Dodge said that more had to be done to clean up the area near Press Lane, “and make it a place for people to go.” Some councillors said that this would probably require getting rid of Warner’s Tavern and the food bars.
