Appeal to V.S.A.
The small Pacific Island country of Tuvalu (formerly the Ellice Islands) has asked Volunteer Service Abroad for two volunteers to help in community development projects. . , Tuvalu needs two single men — a mechanical engineer and a youth officer. The engineer is needed to help develop small industries, such as village foundries. The vouth officer is needed because of concern at the drift of young people] to urban areas. He would advise the Government on vouth policy, assist in establishing a national youth body, and undertake sports coaching. Tuvalu is a group of nine islands 1200 km north of Fiji. It was once part of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands colony. It has a population of about 7000.
