No English trainer for Uncle Remus

PA Auckland The top New Zealand racehorse, Uncle Remus, will not be going to a British trainer when he goes to the United Kingdom in May. His part-owner. Mr Kim Clotworthy, who is not a professional trainer, but who has been educating young horses for years, will take the New Zealand champion to England. He will be joined about a month later by Colin Jlllings. the colt’s New Zealand trainer. Jillings will then take over Uncle Remus’s preparation for the King George VI and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes and the Prix de I’Arc de Triomphe. Clotworthy has been adamant all along that he would take Uncle Remus to Britain only if Jillings would continue to train him.

Before going to Britain, Uncle Remus will have two more weight-for-age starts In New Zealand and a clash with the Australian champion, Luskin Star, in Sydney on Easier Saturday.

He will then be brought home to freshen up before going to England.
