Union’s base
The national office of the Meat Workers’ Union will remain in Christchurch. Mr A. J. Kennedy will take up his post as secretary of the union on February 28. He said from Dunedin last evening that the audit of the union’s financial affairs should be completed by then. He needed a transitional period to settle his affairs as secretary of the
Otago-Southland branch of the union. Mr Kennedy said he hoped that the Industrial Conciliator would soon confirm a date for resumed conciliation talks for the meat workers’ award. Mr F. E. McNulty, the defeated secretary, has not revealed his plans for the future. He denied a suggestion last evening that he would travel overseas in a few weeks.
