Electrical pioneer dead
Mr R. H. Ellis, a former chief electrical engineer in the Ministry of Works, died at Lower Hutt last month. He was 72. Mr Ellis was born in Canterbury, and educated at Rangiora and Christchurch. He served an apprenticeship with the M.E.D. in Christchurch and studied engineering. He became a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, London, and of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers. In 1975, Mr Ellis received the Institution of Engineer’s Evan Parry award for his contribution to electrical safety in hospitals.
