Bottle tops and tight corks
Crown caps from fizzy drink bottles are a handy draining aid when they are put crinkly edge downwards in the bottom of pot plant containers. They make the soil drain evenly and thoroughly, improving the health of the plant.
Those corks which are sometimes so hard to reinsert in the bottle can be softened by soaking in boiling water.
Ice cubes need not be nondescript pieces of frozen water filling up a glass. When you run the water into the tray add a mint leaf, a slice of cucumber, a half olive, or a piece of lemon peel, befoee freezing.
