Racing on TV tonight
Today is the day for racing from Avondale, beginning early this evening from TVI with the Avondale Gold Cup in which New Zealand’s best staying thoroughbreds race over a distance of 2200 metres for a stake of 550,000. Later in the evening there will be live coverage of the Vacation Hotels Handicap, race eight on the Gold Cup programme, .over a distance of 1600 metres. The final highlight of the day’s racing is The Concorde in which the country’s top sprinters race '2OO metres for a stake of SlO.OOO.
