PA Wellington Hie second seed, Dennis Gibson, of California, took the men’s .singles title in the C.8.A.-Marac tennis tournament in Wellington, edging out the top seed. Peter! ! Langsford. of Auckland. Gibson. 24 went to three sets! in all four of his tournament matches, eventually overcoming! Langsford. 6-4, 1-6. 7-6 to take i the $250 winner’s cheque. In the women’s singles, Mona! Guerrant, of the United Slates, beat Canterbury’s Sally Chapman. | 6-1, 6-1, and,, with Christine New-j ton. also of Canterbury, beat Chapman and Waikato’s S. Tebutt 6-0, 4-6. 6-1. in the doubles. Tn the men’s doubles, Langsford and Hutt Valley's D. Simmonds beat Auckland's J. Harve\ and Canterbury's Peter Hampton, 6-4. 6-3.
