Canterbury artist a judge
Mr W. A. Sutton, a Canterbury artist, has been selected as a judge of the National Bank’s 1978 Art Awards to be held on March 22. Mr Sutton, reader in fine arts at the University of Canterbury, will judge a new section on portraits and figure studies. This section will be open to a wider range of media and will supplement the traditional watercolour section, which will be judged by Mr Gordon H. Brown, of Auckland. Prizes of $lOOO will be awarded to the winner of each section. A further sum of $lOOO will be allocated at the discretion of the judges. The awards,
which have been held each year since 1958, will be made at the Waikato Art Museum, Hamilton.
