Games tickets limited

Although there is a heavy demand world-wide for seats to the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton next year, there is still a limited number of tickets available for all sports except some of the evening swimming events. A cable received yesterday from Mr Jim McGregor, the Games ticket and accommodation co-ordina-tor, said that there had been an unprecedented demand for seats for the swimming finals. He denied reports that some sessions of boxing, cycling, gymnastics, and
weight-lifting were also sold out. Only $l5 seats were left for the opening and closing ceremonies. All the $5, $lO, $2O, and $25 seats had been sold. Interest in “The Press,” supporters’ tour to the Games is increasing. Tonight, a 25-minute colour film on preparations in Edmonton for the Games will be screened at the Chateau Commodore. “The Press,” has arranged two showings — at 7 p.m. for readers who sent in coupons for brochures on the tour and at 8.15 p.m. for the public. Both sessions will in-
elude opportunities for questions about the tour, which will leave Christchurch on July 28 and return on August 20. In addition to 12 days at Edmonton, the group will stop at Fiji, Vancouver. Banff, Los Angeles, and Honolulu. Prices — which include all accommodation, air fares, coach trips, and the Canadian Pacific Rail journey through the Rockies — begin at $1599 (plus travel tax). Further information on the tour is available from any travel agency or “The Press.”
